Shani Puja
Puja for Saturn Transit, Tuesday Jan. 17th 2023

About the Puja
(Prayer Service)

We will be performing Nava Graha Shanti on Jan. 14th when the Sun transits into the sign of Capricorn to help balance the effects of all the planets; and on Tuesday Jan. 17th, when Satun moves into the sign of Aquarius (in North America) around 9 am, we will be performing Shani Shanti. We will conduct Shani Shanti Puja and Shani Yantra Pujam along with Ekadashini Rudra Japa to help ease the adverse effects of Saturn for those who participate in the puja.

Puja Sponsorship

Saturn is the karaka (the indicator) of trouble, sickness, loss, and misery in Vedic astrology. Many people experience these sorts of challenges in various aspects of life due to past life karma when Saturn transits into critical points in their birth charts. Through facing the challenges Saturn brings us, he helps us to develop steadiness, wisdom, independence, and spiritual awareness. It is often required to do a great deal of disproportionately difficult work to come to even small gains in the areas of life effected by Saturn and losses and setbacks are commonly experienced in these matters. Saturn is please by austerities, discipline, orthodoxy, mindfulness, meditation practice, serving the sick and poor, waiting patiently, working hard and carefully deliberated and prudent action. We can wear black on Saturdays and fast and pray to Lord Shiva to help overcome troubles brought about by Saturn in the astrology.
Picture
Saturn is a very slow moving Planet. He transits signs roghly every 2 and a half years. After having transited the sign of Makara / Capricorn for the last 2 1/2 years, Saturn will be moving into the sign of Kumbha / Aquarius on Jan. 17th 2023. Saturn transits are especially critical for those who have Saturn prominently placed in their charts. This transit could be especially challenging for people who have their ascendent, Moon, or natal Saturn in the Signs of Aquarius, Aries, Leo, or Scorpio.
Those who have the Moon or ascendent in Capricorn, Aquarius or Pisces may find this time challenging as well, because they are experiencing Sade Sati (the 7 1/2 years when Saturn transits ones natal Moon or ascendent). Those with Saturn in Aquarius also may experience unique challenges because they are experiencing a Saturn return. Of course, this time may not be difficult if you have these placements depending upon the other details of your natal chart. This transit could also present challenges for people who do not have any of these placements, depending upon the details of their charts.
