Samidadhanam is a daily fire ceremony conducted by brahmacharins (celibate students), in which samidhas (or twigs from proscribed trees like banyan, shami, udumbara, mango, fig trees, or fruit trees) are offered into the sacred fire. If this ritual is not conducted daily by brahmacharins, it should at least be conducted whenever upakarma is performed. At the time of marriage, the household fire is lit from the father's fire and Agnihotra and Aupasanam are offered instead of Samida Dhanam. Until the time of marriage, this daily fire ritual is performed daily for the peace of the world.
