Jyotisha is the Sanskrit name for the system of Vedic Astrology. Jyotisha means light. It refers to the light of the planets, which influence the light of human aura. It also refers to the light of Divinity which is seen by the Sages in their meditations and which can be revealed through the use of Vedic Astrology which grants insight into our inner thoughts and feelings, awareness and transcendence of which leads us to the experience of Divine light. Jyotisha is a system which is not well understood. It is a system through which the Devas can communicate and guide humanity. It is possible for a great deal of information to be received from the celestial omens for a person who is somewhat intuitive. Many prominenet teachers of Astrology are teaching astrology as if it is a science. In this case it is the human intellect and ego and not the Divine which guides the practice. The system of Vedic astrology is different than the Western system of Astrology in several ways. One of the most important distinctions is that Vedic astrology not only provides methods to make predictions about likey future events but also provides a complex and sophisticated system of remedies to positively impact people's lives. There are many teachings and courses available on Ayurvedic Jyotisha remedies in Astrology but these subjects are not well understood. This practice either tends to remain somewhat vague and non-specific for most, or they attempt to employ astrology for the diagnosis of health conditions and astrological remedies for their treatment. Ayurveda is a well developed system which uses different techniques like nadi nidana, darshana, sprashana, and prashna to diagnose conditions. Ayurveda has its own system of remedies in place as well including diet and lifestyle changes, herbal medicines, and various treatments including panchakarma. Physical health conditions are best diagnoses and treated through these methods given by the Sages for this purpose. In many cases, the causes of disease are phyical. It is caused by wrong diet, wrong lifestyle, imbalance of the three doshas, depletion of ojas / immunity, and exogenous factors like injury or the exposure to germs and bacteria. In certain cases, when the causes of a disease are not physical, these medical remedies will not be effective. Traditionally, Jyotisha was practiced along side Ayurveda in order to provide insight into the spiritual and karmic factors contributing to disease and to provide relief to these. When there are subtle, hidden, or spiritual causes for disease, Vedic Astrology can provide great assistance where medical means will generally fail. Hidden causes for disease may include invisible toxins in the air, food or water, radiation, spiritual energies and entities, black magic, possession, drishti (evil eye), shatrubadha (influence of enemies), past life karma, family karma, offenses to God, Guru or a Sacred place, and others. This course is designed to introduce the practice of identifying and remedying these sorts of conditions using Vedic Astrology.
