Gaṇanāthāmṛtānanda Svāmī Pādukā Pūjā

Paduka Puja is the worship of the Holy Sandals of the teacher. God is in all things in the world, but He is most visible to souls bound by karma and maya in the feet of his own Guru (teacher). There is no better way to remain connected (or to deepen) the connection with a teacher than through the simple practice of Pada Puja.  Swamiji encourages his shishyas (students) to do a daily Pada Puja.  When it is not possible to have regular darshan (sight / blessings) or personal instruction from a teacher, Pada Puja is the best alternative.

The teacher is able to guide and bless, help and heal the seeker through the offerings made.   A short version of this puja has been provided to help the devotees succeed at daily practice of this important ritual on days that their time is limited. If even the abbreviated ritual is not possible, at least a student can light an oil lamp and offer a flower or a leaf before a photo of the teacher.   It is ok to temporarily discontinue puja when sick, injured (especially if bleeding), during monthly menstruation and pregnancy for women, and when traveling.
