Ganapati Mantra Empowerment

Immerse yourself in the divine energy and wisdom of Lord Ganapati through a transformative Ganapati Mantra Empowerment. Designed to guide you on a spiritual journey, this anuṣṭhāna empowers your spiritual practice, bringing clarity, prosperity, and spiritual growth. This is the first step and necessary empowerment for receiving further dikshas.

Ganapati is traditionally invoked before any other Deity or practice. He sits at the root chakra or Mooladhara Chakra at the base of the spine and helps pull a person from the lower states of consciousness related to the chakras below the base of the spine. For this reason, it is recommended that a sadhaka, or seeker, approach him before beginning any other spiritual practice to grant an auspicious and obstacle-free path.

Why Ganapati?

In today's world, where material pursuits often overshadow spiritual growth, seeking the divine grace of Ganapati is essential. He provides a firm base for our spiritual practice by grounding and preparing a person. By reciting His sacred mantra one can remove the obstacles, and invite the divine energy into their lives. It empowers us allowing clarity, discernment, and peace to flourish.

Swamiji

“Ganapati is known as Vinayaka, meaning "the remover." The Lord has power to remove all troubles. He removes our ego and its selfish desires. He inspires us toward desire for universal welfare. He lifts us from the duality which puts us against our fellow humans. The Lord puts obstacles in our path to prevent us from what is not good for us. He urges us lovingly on toward what is best. His ways seem like a contraction to the logical mind. The image of Ganesha which defies logic to combine man and elephant helps us to come out of the logical mind so we can know him and his mysterious ways.”

Starting a Spiritual Practice: is a succinct spiritual primer, helping seekers to understand the mystical philosophy which must be understood to start a spiritual practice. The nature of God and the Soul are discussed. The text describes the reasons for suffering and the means for liberation, bringing awareness to the psychological process of spiritual awakening. The effects of spiritual practice are discussed so that students can understand what they are experiencing as the practice begins to have its effects. The advent of siddhis (mystical powers arising from spiritual practice) is covered also. The reasons for these powers arising as a person does a practice and what to do with these powers to ensure sustained progress in one's practice is addressed. Questions like "Why is a Guru generally necessary for a person to make progress in their practice?" are covered, along with the importance of preparing for and receiving dīkṣā (spiritual initiation) to empower one's spiritual practice. The protocol for preparing for initiation in the Shuklabhadra Lineage is covered, and specific instructions for students are provided. Images of Swamiji and his Gurus are included to help inspire seekers. Though the instructions are specific for devotees of our lineage, the text provides much useful information which can help deepen the practice of spiritual seekers of various other lineages. Many people do spiritual practice for years with minimal results. We humbly offer this book for the purpose of helping sincere seekers from various backgrounds to deepen their connection to their practice, their lineage, their teachers, and to God. Ultimately, the nature of the Soul is identical to the nature of God and the Universe. Many have heard the mystical affirmation that the embodied soul (jīva) is identical to God (Shiva). Only a few understand the path which must be walked to bring this spiritual Truth into one's direct, experiential knowledge.

Vedāharaṇam English: A Selection of Vedic Hymns for Chanting With Transliteration and Veda Svaras

Please note that this text does not include a full translation or explanation of the mantras. It includes a transliteration and the mantras along with Veda Svaras for learning recitation.

The practice of Vedic Chanting has been passed down through the centuries directly from guru to disciple. The Vedic hymns are the oldest sacred chants from a living spiritual tradition. The ancient hymns were not composed by the Saints but revealed by the Sages. They hold untold power to improve conditions in the world when they are recited in the proper ways with attention and devotion. The recitation of Vedas helps to reduce troubles like natural disasters, disease, pandemics, droughts, famines, poverty, quarrels, and wars. The hymns increase peace, prosperity, health, wealth, and general success and good conditions. The sacred hymns purify the mind of those who recite (or hear) the mantras, which in turn purifies the atmosphere. This helps to ensure rain falls in the right amount to sustain life on Earth. These sacred mantras have been kept secret for millennia by the gurus who have passed down the sacred technology of Veda chanting. The Vedic hymns require a great deal of knowledge and practice for their proper recitation. Complex systems have been put in place to ensure that the sacred hymns have been preserved precisely through the centuries. These mantras require great precision of chanting to bestow the best results. Changing one syllable or pitch can result in changing the meaning and effects of the mantra. So it is best to learn this sacred chanting directly from a teacher who can correct the mistakes of the student and empower the practice.

Since the advent of the printing press, the Vedas have been translated to various languages and many printed version have been published. These texts are more scholarly and have not been produced for those who want to gain a direct experience of the mystical knowledge of Vedas by practicing. It is still quite rare to find many of the important mantras in this text printed along with proper Veda swaras to help ensure the right pronunciation. It is even more difficult to find the powerful mantras in English transliteration for those who do not read Sanskrit. This book has been produced for the benefit of those who teach the Vedas and for the sincere students wanting to embark on the practice of Veda chanting. The text includes many of the most important Vedic hymns and mantras used in worship by priests today. The most popular mantras use for invoking and worshiping a full range of Devas is included along with the most important mantras used in various rituals. Many of these mantras are not easily available from other printed sources. The text includes an introduction to Vedic chanting with a few tips for proper pronunciation. Each mantra is prefaced by a brief description of its meaning and the purposes it is traditionally used for. This text does not include a full translation of the hymns, because it is intended for use in practice. The higher meaning of the sacred verses is revealed for those who repeat and meditate on the sacred sounds of the mantras.

The Vedas have been revealed for the benefit of all the world. Men, women, children from all backgrounds, faiths, and nations should be encouraged to learn Vedas for the benefit of the world. The more people who recite these sacred hymns which have been revealed for the benefit of all humanity, the better. The only qualification which is needed is faith in the Vedic Sages, an understanding of karma and dharma, and a willingness to humble oneself as the shakti of the Vedic mantras transforms their consciousness. This practice cannot be done for selfish benefits, but for the benefit of all living beings. Conditions improve as the sacred sounds uplift a person's consciousness.

❊ FAQs

You’ve got questions,
we’ve got answers

  • Anyone seeking empowerment is required to complete the online preparation class. This class is designed to help people get the most out of their practice and to be able to do the practice properly. The class is designed so students can complete it if they spend a few minutes each day for 10 days. After completing the class, people can register for the empowerment, which is conducted in batches several times a year.

  • The experience is different for everyone based upon their needs, their attachments, their mindfulness, and their level of intuition, faith, and spiritual awareness. Some people experience a sense of peace or joy as they begin the practice after empowerment. Some experience added spiritual energy to their practice. Some do not really notice anything as they begin the practice, but see improvements in their life as they do the practice over time. The experience for each individual is unique.

  •   No prior experience is necessary; our prerequisite course will prepare you.

  • We do not charge for the invaluable gift of mantra empowerment. There is a nominal cost for the preparation class ($16 US). Wise seekers understand that to receive it is necessary to give something in return. We encourage people to give generously as they are able when they receive empowerment. For those who ask, we often recommend a donation of $250. People are encouraged to give more or less as they are able. No person will be turned away, for a lack of money.

  • Yes, the live session of hosted virtually via Zoom. Attend from the comfort of your space with online access. Students who wish to attend the empowerment physically can do this when the center is open to the public.

  • Swamiji will provide teachings to prepare seekers to receive the empowerment then perform rituals of purification and confer the empowerment to each participant. The empowerment process takes about 3 hours to complete.

  • If you miss the life session you will have to reregister for the next empowerment.

  • We encourage all people to practice the Yamas and Niyamas of Yoga for happier, healthier, and more successful life (including the practice of non-violence and vegetarianism). We especially encourage these practices for people doing spiritual practice, because they greatly empower the practice. It is not, however, necessary that a person be proficient at these practices or regularly maintain a vegetarian diet to receive Ganapati mantra empowerment. Ganapati is gentle and accepts people as they are and lovingly inspires them toward more spiritual living as they practice.

  • People receiving the empowerment receive Swamiji’s blessing to do the practice for increased balance, health, happiness, and success in life. People in the US will receive a Mantra Empowerment Card (stating that they have received the empowerment) along with a photo of Ganapati in the mail. International participants will receive a printable PDF Mantra Empowerment card.

  • Empowerment qualifies a person to do the practice with Swamiji’s blessing. It does not qualify a person to teach or to give empowerments. Only an awakened teacher can confer empowerments. We request that people receiving the empowerment do the practice humbly for improvement of their own lives, and that they do not make a display of their practice or discuss the teachings or their experience with others.

  • Yes, we permit people who have connections to other teachers and lineages to receive mantra empowerments. This empowerment is a blessing designed to compliment whatever practice you are already doing. We encourage students to continue any practice they are already doing with other teachers and to do the practices they received empowerment for when they have time, after they have completed their regular practice. We urge those who have connections to other traditions to seek the approval of their Teacher or their representatives within that organization before seeking empowerment with us.

  • No, mantra empowerment is given by Swamiji as a blessing. It is not the same as initiation. Mantra empowerment adds a little spiritual energy to your practice of that mantra, for increased balance, health, happiness, and success in life. Initiation is only given to serious students after months of preparation. Initiation helps to begin the process of effacing the ego and coming into realization of the Divine Atman. Receiving a mantra empowerment does not make a person a formal disciple of Swamiji, receiving diksha / initiation does.

  • Students who want to prepare for initiation, must first receive Ganapati Mantra empowerment. After that, they can enroll in our 6-month preparation course for students receiving initiations. Students can choose which initiation they want to request, or they can seek Swamiji’s suggestion. While taking the prep course, students seeking initiation are encouraged to perform some volunteer work for the Soma Matha center and to donate to help our work. After completion of the preparatory course, Swamiji will determine when a person is ready for the initiation they are seeking. Initiations are provided on an individual basis for students as they get ready to receive initiation.

Welcome to the Ganapati Mantra Empowerment at Soma Matha!
