Siddhi Tea

Siddhi Tea started about ten years ago when Swamiji started selling medicinal herb plants at farmers markets. At that time, there was very little interest in medicinal herbs. But now many venders at farmers markets are selling medicinal herb plants and teas and products. Swamiji went out to the markets to connect with people and help spread knowledge about Ayurveda and the many uses of plants growing all around. He never made much money from the markets, but most often he was able to break even. In an effort to expand the range of offerings beyond live plants, Swamiji also started selling herbal teas and other products.
The line of Siddhi Teas originated from Swamiji's desire to have readily available and high quality blends of Ayurvedic herbs to recommend to Ayurveda clients. There are many powerful ancient formulas in Ayurveda, but few are easy to obtain in the West. Additionally, the most popular herbs in India are threatened today due to over harvesting. Swamiji often found himself at a loss to find good herbal formulas to recommend to clients. Thus the idea of producing high quality herbal teas was born. |
Many herbal teas are widely available at supermarkets, but they are generally very low in quality and their healing benefits are negligible. Many commercial herbal teas are blended without knowledge of the effects of the herbs and are potentially very dangerous. Most of the herbal teas available today also taste very bad, which has lead many people to the thought that they do not like herbal tea. Providing a high quality alternative to the multitude of low -quality herbal teas on the market, to help raise the standard for herbal tea, has become our mission. Since those early days we have introduced a 14 herbal teas, made from the freshest herbs and blended according to the age old principles of Ayurveda.
In 2016, we purchased a farm in Hanover, Virginia for growing herbs for our teas but we could not get permits to sell our teas in that County. We were told that herbs and teas are not considered an agricultural product. In 2021, we relocated to a smaller farm in Nelson County where we are maintaining seeds and a few herb plants. We are working now to relocate our farm once more to a suitable space where we can grow and sell our teas and teach about the healing benefits of herbs. |

Fruits and flowers are necessary offering at every puja in any Hindu Temple. A variety of vegetables is also necessary for the unique form of worship for Shakambhari Devi. We have been collecting and growing heirloom fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers for use in Temple offerings in addition to keeping and promoting heritage breed livestock. We have also fed our volunteers with the excess of produce. We have sold fruits, veggies, plants, and flowers to help offset our costs for growing and to help save the historic varieties for future generations. As mass production moves toward promoting a very few varieties, many of the thousands of heirloom varieties are being lost.

Bio-diversity is essential for food security in the future. Our work to help maintain and spread the historic varieties of fruit and flowers helps to ensure that food and flowers will be available to future generations. Goddess Shakambhari provides nourishment to humanity. She has provided a wide variety of fruits and vegetables and flowers and healing herbs for the nourishment of the world. We praise her and help to promote her will for the world when we work to preserve the variety that nature has blessed us with.
