Benefits of Initiation
Before Initiation, Yoga practice may help to improve health, mental clarity, and mental peace, and it may have limited spiritual benefits. After initiation, the practice of Yoga helps a person to identify attachments within, to release fear and attachments, to mitigate karma, to alter their consciousness and their situation in life, and to expand spiritual awareness of the Divine within and throughout the world. For many people the practice of Yoga is a mere exercise for mental and physical benefits. For the rare souls with the spiritual maturity to seek realization beyond the world, the benefits of Initiation for the practice of Yoga are clear.
Yoga initiations are conducted by Swamiji through the traditional Vedic rituals. At this time, all students who desire Initiation must come to Richmond, Virginia and attend an initiation ceremony held there.
Before receiving initiation, it is important for students to receive spiritual teachings designed to help them open to the process of initiation and to achieve sustainable and beneficial results in their practice after Initiation.
Students may receive Initiation who have:
1) received the teachings
2) who are practicing the Yamas and Niyamas
3) who have practiced the Yoga set for at least one month.
