śhākambharī Devī Temple
Shaakambhari Devi or Vanashankari (as she is known in South India) is a form of Goddess Durga described in the Devi Mahatmyam. Shaakambhari Devi is the Goddess of the forest, tree, vegetation, foods, and nourishment. A group of dedicated devotees is working diligently to build a grand Temple for the Goddess in Richmond, Va.
Led by Gananathamritananda Swamiji, the Temple committee is working to build a Temple for Goddess Shaakambhari Devi. Once we gain county approval and pay off our mortgage, we can think about constructing a Traditional Agamic Temple for Goddess Shakambhari Devi with murtis (statues) from India. We envision a Yoga School and Ayurveda School, and Ayurvedic Botanical Gardens. More information will be posted here as updates are available.
